‘Fast & Furious 7’ Update: Vin Diesel Confirms 2015 Release Date

Actor Vin Diesel has confirmed the next installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise will now be released April 10, 2015, according to Reuters.

"Fast & Furious 7" was originally set to be released July 11, 2014 until the sudden death of the film's co-star Paul Walker.

Filming for "Fast and Furious 7," was halted earlier this month due to Walker's death on Nov. 30. He was killed in a fiery crash in Santa Clarita, California along with his business partner and friend Roger Rodas.

Diesel revealed the news in a message on his Facebook page saying: "Fast and Furious 7 will be released ... April 10th 2015!, P.s. He'd want you to know first."

The "he" mentioned in Diesel's quote is an apparent reference to his fallen friend and co-star Walker.

Walker had become a symbol of the street-racing scene for his role as police officer Brian O'Conner in the "Fast & Furious" series. He starred in the first two films and returned to the series in "Fast Five."

Just a couple days after Walker's death, Universal shut down production of the film to try and figure out how they'll complete the movie without Walker.

The movies have grossed over $2 billion at the global box office according to Reuters, and, along with the "Despicable Me" movies, are one of two franchises that have helped Universal Pictures get back on track in the last five years.

Walker's brother Cody Walker announced on his Facebook page that he'll be replacing his brother for the remaining scenes left to be filmed for "Fast & Furious 7."

Cody will be filmed from behind or at a distance and if needed they will CGI Paul's face on Cody once filming is completed, according to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail.
