2014 Detroit Auto Show: 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to Debut, Production Expected by Late 2014

Chevrolet has confirmed its 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show this January.

A teaser photo of the Corvette Z06 was also revealed this week. The picture shows a wheel, a Michelin tire and part of the vehicle.

The Z06 can be seen in a Velocity Yellow Tintcoat in the picture as well.

"Chevrolet is America's favorite performance car brand, and for 2014 we are going to offer enthusiasts more choices than ever before," said Alan Batey, senior vice president of global Chevrolet, in a statement. "No other manufacturer will be able to match the breath of performance cars from Chevrolet."

Production is expected to begin in late 2014.

The new vehicle completes Chevrolet's new Corvette lineup that features the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Corvette Stingray Convertible.

"It will be the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features," GM said in a statement.

The Stingray Convertible is set to go on sale later this month.

Pricing and specifications have yet to be revealed for the new Z06 by the automaker.

The Detroit Auto Show takes place January 14th through the 27th.
