Saleen Automotive Developing an Electric Car, Will it be Sold in 2014?

Saleen Automotive has confirmed it will develop an electric car that they plan on releasing for "distribution and sale" as early as next year.

"I'm not prepared to give all the details of our electric vehicle project yet but I can tell you that it is unlike anything currently in the marketplace," said Steve Saleen, Saleen Automotive CEO, in a statement.

The company said more information regarding the vehicle will be released sometime in early 2014.

The news is the latest big announcement made by Saleen, who reclaimed his company name and launched Saleen Automotive Inc. earlier this year.

"Throw out your pre-conceived notions and expectations," said Saleen. "This vehicle will be revolutionary in its aesthetics and mechanics."

The former racecar driver rose to fame in Detroit by producing Ford's line of GT models. He also helped build Chrysler's Viper sports car.

"We recognize that electric cars are a trend, not a fad, and expect this vehicle category to continue to increase as an automotive option for consumers," Saleen said.

Make sure to check back in a few months for more information regarding the Saleen Automotive EV.
