Kevin Harvick Fire: NASCAR Driver’s Family Escapes Unharmed, Blaze Started Underneath The Fireplace (PHOTO)

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kevin Harvick and his family were able to escape without injury when a fire broke out in their Oak Ridge, N.C. home on Nov. 29.

Harvick was inside the house with his wife DeLana and 1-year-old son Keelan when the fire started, according to Fox Sports.

"Last night the local fire department was called to the Harvick's house where a fire started in the basement in the early morning hours," said Kevin Harvick Inc. in a press statement. "There was structural and smoke damage within the area. Kevin, DeLana and Keelan were not injured. Thank you all for the outpouring of concern."

Guilford County Fire Marshal Office Fire Investigator Chad Garrett said the fire started with a wood-burning fireplace one floor above the basement, according to Fox Sports.

The heat from the fireplace ignited the floor underneath it, causing the fire alarms to go off.

The fire occurred just two weeks after finishing in third-place in 2013 Sprint Cup standings.

DeLana said to her followers on Twitter that they were all okay and that things could be a lot worse if wasn't for local firefighters.

Approximately $50,000 worth of damage was done to the home. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
