2015 Porsche Macan Revealed: Sales Could Reach 50,000 Per Year, Will Compete With Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class

Porsche has high expectations for its new Macan S, which debuted this week at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, so much so it's willing to already predict how many of them they'll sell per year.

The new vehicle will be sold for $50,895, including a $995 destination fee.

Sales projections of 50,000-55,000 units per year were discussed by Porsche as "cautious estimates," though they believe sales could reach 75,000 per year if all goes well, according to MotorAuthority.com.

If Porsche is correct, the new Macan would at least represent 50 percent of the automaker's total volume.

Porsche's new Macan may be sold for around $100,000 when equipped with features like ceramic brakes, full leather interior, and a panoramic sunroof.

The automaker feels its Macan will be the headliner of the 2013 LA Auto Show, according to Edmunds.

The base Macan S is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine delivering 340 horsepower. The Macan Turbo is equipped with a 400-hp twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 engine.

The Macan Turbo is capable of going from 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds and has a top track speed of 164 mph, according to the automaker. Both new vehicles come with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed double-clutch transmission, according to Porsche.

No EPA fuel economy estimates have been released yet. Estimates are supposed to be revealed closer to the vehicle's spring release date.

Other standard features includes: 19-inch wheels, a high-performance audio system a multifunction sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a power tailgate.

The Macan is expected to compete with similar cars like the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, and Audi Q5.
