2014 Chevrolet Silverado Beats Ram 1500 in Consumer Reports Test

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado bested the Ram 1500 in a new test of the best full-size pickup trucks conducted by Consumer Reports.

"The Silverado edged the Ram in several areas important to pickup truck owners," said Consumer Reports in a press statement this week.

The Silverado was said to have a larger cargo bed and delivered the best fuel economy, 16 mpg overall, according to the magazine. The truck also towed a heavier trailer the weighed approximately 11,200 pounds in testing.

Though the Silverado was determined the best truck, testers did say the Ram 1500 was probably the "better daily driver."

"For drivers using their truck more for day-to-day driving, Consumer Reports testers found the Ram is a nicer place to spend your time," said Consumer Reports.

This is the second big win for General Motors in the last month, as the 2014 Chevrolet Impala beat all other sedans in a test also conducted by Consumer Reports.

The Impala became the first domestic car to finish first in Consumer Reports large sedan ratings in the last 20 years.
