Tesla Outsells Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo in California

It's been a good year so far for Elon Musk's electric car company Tesla Motors, and things only got better this week after it was revealed the automaker sold more cars in California than automakers like Porsche, Volvo, and Lincoln.

According to new figures from the California New Car Dealers Association, Tesla has sold 4,714 vehicles in California during 2013 so far.

In comparison, here's how other companies have done in the Golden State:

-Porsche: 4,586

-Land Rover: 4,022

-Volvo: 2,982

-Lincoln: 2,230

-Jaguar: 1,254

The EV automaker also outsold Fiat, Buick, and Mitsubishi, who sold 3,898, 4,575, and 2,939 each, respectively.

What makes Tesla's accomplishment even more impressive is that the vehicle costs well over $60,000 with a sticker price of approximately $89,650.

The Model S can go 300 miles at 55 mph on a single charge according to the EV automaker.

Tesla shares have increased $16 billion in market cap this year according to USA Today.
