The expected release of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C could mean the end of production for the iPhone 5 according to GottaBeMobile.com.

Apple is expected to hold a press event in early Sept. where it's believed the company will unveil its next iPhone device.

Nothing has been confirmed by Apple as of yet, but most media outlets seem to agree the next device won't be the iPhone 6.

Originally, the iPhone 5C was expected to just replace the iPhone 4S, which is still available for purchase, but now it seems like Apple wants to get rid of the iPhone 5.

Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities reported that the iPhone 5C will replace the iPhone 5, and will be sold for approximately $400 to $500, with an off contract plan, according to AppleInsider.com.

The report also claims the iPhone 5S will be sold for approximately $649 or more with an off contract plan.

Apple's iOS 7 is also expected to be released at the press event as well. iOS 7 is currently in its fifth beta test after a number of upgrades have been made and bugs have been addressed since first being announced at a press event in June.

The iPhone 5 has only been available for a little under a year, but this wouldn't be the first time they pulled a device early. The iPad 3 was only available for seven months before the company released its iPad 4.

Current specs that have been discussed for the next iPhone include: Retina or IGZO screen display, 13 mega-pixel camera, A7 quad core chip processor, 128GB internal storage.

The iPhone 5S is rumored to come with a 4-inch screen, 8-megapixel camera, dual core processor

Five or six different color options have been discussed as well.
