Kelley Blue Book Lists 2013 Kia Sportage, 2014 Nissan Versa in ‘10 Best Cars for Back to School’ List

Kelley Blue Book released its list of the "10 Best Cars for Back to School" this week and the 2013 Honda Civic, Volkswagen Golf, and the 2014 Nissan Versa Note were among the vehicles who made the cut.

Click here to see the list and KBB.com's reasoning for each pick.

The list is based on Kelley Blue Book editors' evaluations of each vehicle's attributes, which includes safety, fuel economy, versatility, and style according to a company press release.

By releasing the annual list, KBB.com hopes to help out college students and their parents as they seek a new car for the vastly approaching school year.

The list of the best cars for back to school included:

1. 2014 Nissan Versa Note

2. 2014 Ford Focus

3. 2014 Chevrolet Sonic

4. 2013 Mazda MAZDA3

5. 2013 Honda Civic

6. 2013 Kia Sportage

7. 2013 Volkswagen Golf

8. 2013 Toyota Prius C

9. 2013 Subaru Impreza

10. 2014 Fiat 500L

"Your hard-earned $20,000 buys a lot of car these days. Case in point, the stylish Kia Sportage offers up real SUV versatility, a bounty of standard features and a lengthy warranty at a very student-friendly price," said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com, in a press statement.  "That it's recognized as a 2013 IIHS Top Safety Pick doesn't hurt, either."

The Kia Soul topped the list last school year according to KBB.com.
