Hyundai announced it will recall 5,200 Azera sedans because the front passenger airbag could inflate when a child is sitting there.

The issue could cause an injury or death according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Hyundai said that the NHTSA that the issue could be found in Azeras produced on May 22, 2012 through November 23, 2012. The automaker said that it has since corrected the issue and newer vehicles will not be at risk.

The flaw could affect how the vehicle's sensors properly determine when the front passenger airbag should be deactivated according to Hyundai.

Each seat in the vehicle uses sensors to meet the requirement that they be able to figure out the difference between small, light passengers, and normal-size adults. For smaller passengers, the air bag is supposed to inflate more gently or not at all because the full force of the bag could be dangerous.

The vehicle's seatbelts are supposed to provide enough safety for smaller passengers in the front seat according to Hyundai.

In most states, children are not legally allowed to sit up front, but many people let them anyway.

Hyundai has received five warranty claims since last May through November.

The manufacturer has not revealed when it will start sending out recall letters. The Hyundai recall number is "Campaign 111."
