2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition Update: GM to Produce Just 500 Vehicles for $75,000 (VIDEO)

General Motors confirmed this week that it will only produce 500 of the new Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition vehicles.

The rare model will stand out compared to other Corvette vehicles with its Laguna Blue Tintcoat exterior paint job and Brownstone suede interior.

"The 2014 Corvette Stingray perfectly embodies Chevrolet's mission to deliver more than expected for our customers," said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet marketing according to the company press release. "The Corvette Stingray delivers a combination of performance, design and technology that very few manufacturers can match, and none can even come close for $52,000."

Other details revealed as of press time include wheel caps, a Stingray-logo interior sill plates, and a "stinger" hood stripe.

GM has equipped the Premiere Edition with a Z51 Performance Package, which achieves 460 hp and helps the vehicle go 0 to 60 in just 3.8 seconds.

Performance estimates have yet to be released to the public as of press time.

"We do not have a specific number," said Monte Doran, a Chevrolet spokesman in response to an Edmunds e-mailed this weekend. "But as it is a fully optioned Stingray with additional accessories, it will be slightly more than $75,000."

The first Corvette went into production on June 30, 1953 in Michigan. The new model was revealed at the New York Auto Show the same year.
