Volkswagen EV Plans Leaked Online; Five Models Coming Out From 2019 To 2022?

A slide from Volkswagen has allegedly leaked online. Apparently, it contains the timeline of Volkswagen for its MEB (Modularer Elektrifizierungsbaukasten) electric vehicle platform, revealing the five models scheduled for 2019 to 2022.

The leaked document shows the plans of the automaker in terms of an electric vehicle program. It reveals the name of the five models as I.D., I.D. Cross, I.D. Lounge, I.D. AEROe, and I.D. BUZZ.

It has a picture of the five electric car models for production. The design of the three, out of the five models, can be seen in blurry effect, while two models are still hiding under wraps.

Under the five car models, a timeline can be noticed that depicts a 2019 to 2022 range. The names were plotted in accordance to the planned timeline, which starts from the I.D. model on 2019 and ends with I.D. BUZZ on 2022.

Furthermore, the American, European and Chinese flags can also be spotted in between the car model and the timeline. The I.D. model, which was unveiled at the 2016 Frankfurt Motor Show, has the EU flag under it. This hints that the European market will be the priority for this particular model.

Another interesting chunk of leaked information that can be taken from this image is the revelation of the two new concepts. The I.D. Lounge and I.D. AEROe appears with a car cover on the image, hinting the two models are yet to be introduced.

Speculations predict the I.D. Lounge and I.D. AEROe models will most likely be unveiled either in the upcoming Detroit or Shanghai Motor Shows. The theory could have stemmed from the Chinese and American flag drawn under the names of the two car models.

Meanwhile, it can be observed that the I.D. Buzz model seems to have been confirmed through this leaked slide. The Microbus concept was first teased 21 years ago, and the leaked information seems to announce that the model will finally be witnessed in the production version by 2022. The allegedly leaked slide showing the planned timeline of Volkswagen for its electric vehicles was first posted by AutoBlog Netherlands.
