2018 Kia Stonic Revealed As The New Hottest Crossover Of The Brand

The 2018 Kia Stonic has been revealed and it will most likely compete with the likes of Toyota C-HR, Ford Ecosport, Nissan Juke, Hyundai Kona and Honda HR-V. The brand predicts this new model will become one of its hottest crossovers.

The new model used the brand's latest platform. It is smaller than its siblings Sorento and Sportage.

The new crossover has been designed with a plastic cladding cover around the bottom edge of the car and through the wheel arches. It also comes with a "tiger-nose" grille along with distinct headlights.

Adding to the muscular image of the new Stonic are the brushed metal skid plates. The front and rear section carry these new metal trims.

Under the hood, Kia has prepared three petrol engine variants for the new Stonic, similar to that of the Rio. Buyers can choose from the naturally aspirated 1.25-liter and 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine variants. The third option is the latest turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder T-GDI that can deliver 118bhp.

All variants of the new crossover will be front-wheel drive only. A potential hybrid version is also being considered down the road.

Looking at the cabin, the new crossover features the latest technology tools as well. It comes with a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other technology features are the automatic cruise control, heated front seats, and keyless entry. Safety features include the autonomous emergency braking system, forward collision alert, pedestrian recognition and rear cross traffic alert system. Moreover, there is also a blind spot detection, high-beam assist, lane departure warning and driver attention alert.

The new car also offers sufficient leg and headroom too. The rear section also has a two-step floor that helps users to manipulate the 352-liter boot in expanding or shrinking it.

The automaker boasts that the new model is the most tailored model so far. It will be offered with a wide range of body paint options in a two-tone finish. There will be five distinct roof colors and 20 combinations for the two-tone body paint. The 2018 Kia Stonic is set to have its global launch at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
