2018 Ford Focus Spy Photos Reveal A First Peak On The New Cabin

The 2018 Ford Focus has been spotted while testing again. Spy photos reveal the first peak on the model's new cabin.

The spy photos for the new Focus reveal the upcoming model is still hiding under heavy wraps. The automaker seems to be teasing that a major surprise is yet to be unveiled behind the camouflage.

Despite the heavy camouflage, the new model's cabin gave quite a small peak for the spy shooters. It appears that the new Focus took its inspiration from the latest Ford Fiesta where simplicity was the theme of the cabin design.

The cabin shows there is not much clutter on the center console. The top of the huge infotainment touchscreen system can also be spotted on the center of the dashboard. The new touchscreen system has replaced the button controls in the cabin of the previous model.

Furthermore, it can also be noticed that the front grille of the new Focus looks similar with the latest Fiesta. Whereas, the horizontal temporary taillights from the back appears to have been altered to look similar to the latter.

With the full camouflage, speculations predict that the new rival of Volkswagen Golf will still use the current Global C-car platform. The engineering team is expected to keep the suspension comfort that popularized the Mk1 and Mk2 cars. However, it is also speculated that the handling agility will be taken into consideration for further advancement.

Reports also predict that the new family car will use a wheelbase that has been slightly increased for better interior packaging. Handling verve is expected to be improved by the new power-steering setup, rear suspension bushes, and front suspension geometry.

Under the hood, other speculations say the new Focus will most likely run with the brand's 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine that will offer about three power output variants. The Active model will most probably be in a four-wheel drive system.

There might be diesel engine models to come out too. It may be offered with 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter engine options. Moreover, Ford's Powershift dual-clutch automatic transmission is also expected to be offered as an optional feature.

The 2018 Ford Focus is expected to first arrive in Europe next year. The cheaper price tag for the new model is speculated to start at $20,300 (£16,000).
