UAE’s Nimr Automotive Launched Ajban 440A & RIV Military Jeeps In Europe

Nimr Automotive has just launched its two latest Jeeps in Europe. The Ajban 440A and Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV) took center stage at the 14th International Defense and Security Technology Fair (IDET) in Brno, Czech Republic.

Nimr Automotive, in partnership with VOP CZ, has just launched Ajban 440A, the very first military jeep, configured to the specifications of Europe. Early this year, the two companies have announced their collaboration to develop an advanced platform military jeep for the European market.

VOP general manager Marek Spok shared, "The commitment being shown by both organizations to realize the collective vision of localizing Nimr's range of military vehicles in Europe is evident with the Ajban 440A today at IDET." Furthermore, Nimr Automotive also introduced its latest RIV at IDET. The new Jeep boasts of its excellent all-terrain tactical mobility and unequaled power-to-weight ratio.

The automaker shared that they are targeting to supply the growing requirements of the armed forces. With the new RIV, Nimr is able to meet the demand without sacrificing the competitiveness of the jeep.

Horiba Mira engineered the new RIV in the United Kingdom, in partnership with Nimr. The new military Jeep was developed through the integration of Nimr's platform and VOP CZ's world-class technology.

Nimr chief executive Fahad Saif Harhara bragged their confidence to satisfy the requirements of Nato member countries for a "military grade fleet solution, providing greater protection and longer service life than up-armoured commercial vehicles."

The new RIV is strong enough to carry four heavily armed soldiers, totaling to 1,040 pounds (472kg). The body is made up of fabricated steel, while the wings and hood were composite.

It has a flat floor to lessen the danger of becoming grounded on dunes. It also has a space-frame chassis, short entry and exit angles for 36-degree dune gradients.

Moreover, the unique, long-travel suspension has 12-inch maximum ground clearance. There is also an option to lower the clearance to 4.5-inch for easier loading of the jeep into the Chinook.

With regard to the suspension, it features Horstman hydro struts. These are filled with nitrogen and fluid that turns firmer as the temperature increases, which then alerts the driver to possible overheating issues.

The new RIV is extremely powerful with its uprated version of the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, similar to that of the Maserati Ghibli. The engine can deliver 296 bhp and 443 lb-ft of torque.

The new model runs as a four-wheel drive and with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Prior to the launch, the new Ajban 440A and RIV have already passed the trials under the supervision of military leaders from the Czech Armed Forces.
