The 2018 Renault Megane RS made its first appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend. With the special debut, Renault has also confirmed the new model will be offered with a manual and automatic engine options.
The new Megane RS made a grand appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix with Renault Sport F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg. It arrived at the track in between two Renault F1 sports cars.
The brand posted a collage of the photos of the new Megane RS on its official Twitter account. The new Megane RS that Hulkenberg drove at the Monaco Grand Prix is still in prototype form. The heavily camouflaged new model wears whole body print of yellow diamond patterns.
Renault Sport also posted a video compilation of the special appearance of the new Megane RS at the Monaco Grand Prix. The special debut is part of the brand's celebration of its 40 years of participation in Formula 1.
Renault Sports Cars director Patrice Ratti shared, "I don't think we could have chosen a more appropriate or more impactful moment than the 40th anniversary of Renault's involvement in F1 to launch a new model." Ratti also revealed that they are targeting to make the new Megane RS to set the new compact sports car benchmark.
Renault brags that the new model was developed based on the company's unparalleled experience in F1. The new model will carry out a similar F1 performance, aerodynamic efficiency, road-holding, and reliability.
Along with the special debut, Renault has also announced that the new model will feature a manual transmission and an EDC dual-clutch auto. Car enthusiasts may recall that Renault has been offering the Megane RS with a manual transmission only, which makes the new model an extra special one. The 2018 Renault Megane RS is set to have its grand launch at the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show on Sept. 12.
