2018 GMC Yukon Denali Receives Some Cosmetic Upgrades And A New 10-Speed Automatic Transmission

GMC has revealed that the new 2018 GMC Yukon Denali will be receiving a more modern design, a new transmission, and a few cosmetic upgrades. But the automaker has not yet announced the price of the 2018 year model.

Similar to the new Chevrolet Tahoes out there, the 2018 GMC Yukon Denali gets a new 10-speed automatic transmission as part of its upgrades. The automaker previously said that they would offer greater fuel efficiency on all its upcoming vehicles.

The automaker also updated the appearance of the grille with a layered theme that is commonly seen on other new models such as the Terrain and Acadia. The new grille will provide greater airflow to the radiator, and active aero shutters behind the grille can reduce drag and improve fuel economy. The Denali trim will be available on both the standard Yukon and the long-wheelbase Yukon XL.

The new Yukon Denali is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 420 hp (425 PS). As mentioned earlier, it will be mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission that has a wider 7.39 overall gear ratio spread that allows a "lower numerical top gear ratio and contributes to greater efficiency." The gearbox also has been optimized so it can produce smooth operation and an aggressive response.

On the inside, the new model adds a Mastique Ash real wood trim. Other features will include heated seats in the first and second rows, ventilated seats up front, high-density Headlamps with LED Signature Lighting, a Magnetic Ride Control suspension system, 20-inch wheels, a cabin noise-reduction system, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot plan, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, hands-free power liftgate, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8-inch infotainment system with navigation.

The 2018 GMC Yukon Denali will go on sale this fall and pricing will be revealed closer to its launch. Stay tuned to Auto World News for more updates!
