2017 Dodge Durango GT Is Spacious And Very Comfortable Yet Heavy Enough To Perform Less

The 2017 Dodge Durango GT has been tested at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. The new crossover provides much comfort and space. However, it seems that its heaviness prohibits the new model to perform well.

With the 2016 Honda Pilot as a reference, the new Durango has been compared in terms of torque, horsepower, fuel economy, and size. Although the new Durango delivers 15 hp more than the Pilot, the former accelerates slower than the latter. Durango records a 7.6-second rating to reach 0 to 60mph, this is 1.4 seconds behind the Pilot's record.

With regard to weight, the 2017 Dodge Durango GT is heavier than the 2016 Honda Pilot. The former weighs 662 pounds heavier at 4,942 pounds.

The heavier weight of the new Durango hampers the stopping distance. The new crossover was able to stop from 60 mph in 130 feet. This stopping performance of Durango fares slower than the Pilot as the latter can do the same halt in 119 feet only.

Furthermore, the heavier weight of the new Durango results to a lesser mileage. However, the added weight provides the new crossover with a more substantial feel.

For family rides, the new Durango is a perfect fit with its roomy three rows of seats. Two adults can still sit comfortably in the third row of seats of the new crossover. Or if the third row of seats is folded, it can host a total of 84.5 cubic feet of cargo space. The downside is that its huge size makes parking a huge concern as well.

The 2017 Dodge Durango GT features additional exterior trims. It comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front bucket seats, 20-inch wheels, and dual USB charging ports.

The new crossover runs with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that can deliver 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Its eight-speed automatic transmission is properly tuned to the engine and has a manual shift mode.

The 2017 Dodge Durango GT comes with a price tag of $29,995. It can be your very comfortable crossover with very good fuel efficiency.
