BMW Show Offs Its New BMW M240i M Performance Edition

BMW has just revealed the images of the brand new BMW M240i M Performance Edition. This limited-edition model will feature a lot of BMW M Performance styling upgrades.

The Performance Edition is apparently based on the newly revised M240i and shares the turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine that produces 335bhp and 369 lb-ft. BMW also announces that only 750 units would be made.

The BMW M240i M Performance Edition is offered exclusively in Alpine White and differs from the base version of the M240i with a revised front apron and splitter, deeper black side skirts, black kidney grills, wing mirrors and rear lip spoiler, a partially painted rear diffuser, and carbon fiber wrapped tailpipe finishers. In addition, BMW also includes a new set of two-tone forged 19-inch alloy wheels that's wrapped in 225/35 R19 front tires and 225/30 R19 rear tires.

On the interior, the Performance Edition gets an Alcantara M Performance steering wheel with a red center band that brightens up the standard interior. Offered with a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic form, the coupe is also offered with xDrive AWD and in automatic guise will accelerate 62mph in just 4.4 seconds.

The new Performance Edition will be built exclusively at BMW's Leipzig plant located in Germany, along with the M2, 2 Series lineup, i3, 1 Series 5-door, and BMW i8. Aside from these M Performance upgrade, the new model will share a similar styling and interior updates as the standard 2-series, with an upgraded i-Drive infotainment system, new LED lights front and rear, black panel dials and a reprofiled dashboard.

Furthermore, BMW hasn't revealed the price of the new BMW M240i M Performance Edition yet, but knowing that a standard M240i starts at $45,445, it's safe to guess that it will cost a few thousand dollars more. The Performance Edition will become available in July.
