Car Vending Machine Debuts In Singapore, Dispenses Ferraris And Other Luxury Vehicles [VIDEO]

Singapore's Autobahn Motors erected a car vending machine that dispenses luxury vehicles like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and Bentleys. The 15-storey site first opened in December but it has since been filled with some 60 luxury cars.

The concept also helped increase the company's sales by 30 percent. Car enthusiasts dubbed the building the "world's largest luxury car vending machine," as per This Is Money. It is, in fact, a showroom.

Unlike the usual showrooms where all the cars are out on display on an expansive lot, this one is a glass tower with special elevators for the luxury cars. Hence, from the outside, it looks like a car vending machine. The business, however, operates the same way as a regular vending machine where one simply touches buttons to get the product.

Autobahn Motors developed a mobile app from which the customers can tap the car of their choice. Then, while waiting for the car to "dispense" in roughly two minutes, the customers could watch a short video about the vehicle under dimmed lights.

Once the car is on the ground, the lights turn on and the customers will find the car rotating on a turntable disc plate. The customer can inspect it, bring it out for a test drive or close the deal and buy the unit, as per WTOL.

General Manager Gary Hong said the vending machine system made use of space efficient, especially in Singapore where land scarcity is an issue. The business operation also helped the company stand out against competition and customers love the whole show.

"We needed to meet our requirement of storing a lot of cars," Hong said, as per Reuters. "At the same time, we wanted to be creative and innovative."

A similar concept already exists in the United States in a showroom called Carvana, as per Tech Crunch. The Singapore site, however, beats its U.S. counterpart because the former can only house 30 cars while Autobahn Motors can have 60.
