Spotted in Denmark, Copenhagen's capital city, is the next-generation 2019 BMW X5, the current F15 BMW X5's successor. It pretty much looks like an X5-ish and is set to rival with the likes of Land Rover and Volvo in the SUV market.

We can only see the car in the video, which you can watch below, driving around the city. Easily noticeable is the vehicle's size and proportions. Basically, it looks much like an X5. And despite it wearing heavy camouflage, the new front end stands out. Plus, those twin-kidney grilles scream for attention, as they are even larger and more prominent compared with the current generation.

Also noticeable are its aggressive rear haunches. They stick out further compared with the current generation's and they're massive.

But note that this next-generation 2019 BMW X5 is still in its prototype form and these could be just false body panels. On one hand, if these are actually an exterior upgrade, then it gives the upcoming SUV a sportier and wider look.

Although we still have no official word as regards next-generation 2019 BMW X5's powertrain, reports point that the SUV will be underpinned by the CLAR architecture. Thus, this upcoming vehicle will be equipped with most of the engines from the executive vehicles.

That being said, it includes the straight-six diesel and gasoline units. Plus, a plug-in hybrid version could also come up later and the X5 M could join the lineup.

Although the video doesn't give a sneak peak of the interior of the next-generation 2019 BMW X5, it will still share most of the interior of the current 5-Series. Included will be the latest tech features such as semi-autonomous driving tech, self-parking feature, and voice-operated systems.

As to when BMW intends to unveil the next-generation 2019 BMW X5 is still uncertain. But this should be within the next couple of years, although there are reports claiming that it could be as early as next year. Regardless, based on the spy video, this could be a worthy competition against the likes of Land Rover and Volvo in the ever-growing SUV market.
