The next-generation 2017 Honda Civic Si has been unveiled and now gets a turbocharged engine. Lighter, bolder, and sleeker than before, this model builds on the success of the tenth-generation model and is offered either as a coupe or sedan.
On the exterior, the new Civic Si stayed to the original prototype. On the front, the solid wing face grille is finished in black chrome. It also gets a sporty-looking bumper that has larger air intakes and integral fog lights.
The Civic's wheels are 18-inch alloy ten-spoke alloy wheels that are wrapped in 235/40 tires. It's then topped off by a bigger rear wing and a center-mounted exhaust.
On the interior, the new 2017 Honda Civic Si receives exclusive bolstered front seats with red stitching. Another area of the cabin such as the steering wheel, shift knob, leather shift boot and door panels also get the red stitching design. Further adding to the new sporty feel are the dry metal carbon trim and aluminum sport pedals.
Other features include 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, audio streaming, voice control, AM/FM radio, navigation, remote engine start and dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats. The audio is routed to a 10-speaker system.
Under the hood, the new Si is powered by a tuned 1.5-liter Earth Dreams turbo inline-four. Compared to the standard Civic which only produces 173 PS and 220 Nm of torque, this year's model generated 208 PS and 260 Nm of torque. The engine is then paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
In addition, the new Si also gets new two driving modes; Normal and Sport. The Normal mode sets the dampers and throttles response to get a more oriented setting. The Sport mode, on the other hand, adjusts the dampers, throttle, and steering for a more direct driving experience.
Aside from the more powerful engine, the new Si is also equipped with a more rigid chassis, a dual-pinion adaptive electric power steering system and a helical limited-slip differential. Safety features of the 2017 Honda Civic Si include anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, agile handling system, vehicle stability assist, and electronic parking brake.
