Hyundai confirmed this week that the redesigned 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show according to a report by Edmunds.
"You will see the Genesis at the Detroit Auto Show," said Hyundai Motor America's Brandon Ramirez according to Edmunds.
Details about the new Genesis have yet to be officially revealed, but many media outlets have claimed that the new model will receive an updated exterior, a "richer-looking" interior, and an all-wheel-drive option will be offered for the first time ever.
The strategy to release a redesigned Genesis was decided by the company to attract buyers who prefer German brand vehicles.
Prototypes have been seen on multiple occasions in Europe, the latest taking place during high-speed tests in Germany.
Hyundai updated the Genesis powertrain lineup in 2012 and experienced better than expected sales according to a company press release. Hyundai expects similar numbers for the redesigned model once it is finally released.
Predicted features for the new Genesis includes: a 3.8-liter V-6 rated engine with 333 horsepower, while the R-Spec might continue to include a 5.0-liter V-8 engine with 429 horsepower according to MotorAuthority. The standard eight-speed automatic is expected to return, although it's possible a new diesel option could be made available overseas.
Leaked photos reveal little of the new vehicle, but do show several design elements borrowed from the HCD-14 Genesis concept.
"Design is constantly evolving, all design is," said Hyundai Spokesman Derek Joyce according to Edmunds. "The desire is to always look to enhance and provide freshness to design, but it is not a change from our general overall theme of fluidic sculpture."
