The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is the latest satanic muscle car and is also one of the most hyped vehicle launches in recent time. To top that off, Dodge has made massive claims to match the Demons unveiling.

After weeks of painstakingly watching the teaser videos, the Demon made its debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show. But its jaw-dropping performance is what got people talking.

Packing supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that delivers 808 horses, 770 lb-ft of torque, and serious drag tech, the Demon can certainly do a wheelie. But that 808 hp can be cranked up to 840 thanks to the Demon Crate package.

Thus, the Demon is able to demolish a 0-60 mph in just 2.3 seconds. But isn't Tesla Model S P100D with Ludicrous Mode faster than the Demon at 2.28 seconds? That is according to MotorTrend that tested this electric luxury sedan.

But depending on how you measure it, the Demon can still demolish a 0-60mph run in 2.1 seconds, in stock form. By stock form, there is no passenger seat or rear seat for that matter, with optional Direct Connection powertrain controller, and running on 100-octane race fuel.

These are serious numbers, though. But this is all thanks to the testing procedure: Rollout.

The rollout is basically the extra 7 inches on the drag strip the car is allowed to roll before the timer starts. In a nutshell, the vehicle is already "rolling." In fact, others view this as "cheating," simply because technically it isn't a "0 to 60" mph time anymore with the additional 7 inches.

In numbers, to put this simply, MotorTrend's measurement for the Tesla Model S P100D with Ludicrous Mode includes a rollout. Shocking? That's 2.28 seconds. Meanwhile, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon's 2.3 seconds does not include the rollout. Imagine that.

Thus, a 0 to 60 mph time for the Demon could still be improved. FCA North American Head of Passenger Cars Tim Kuniskis said, "Lately some people are trying to go for big stats, so they are including rollout, and they are being honest. Most people don't know what rollout is, so it's kind of a throwaway disclaimer. Zero to 60 pure is 2.3 seconds, but with the rollout, it's 2.1, and that's important because that's the fastest 0-60 mph of any production car, I don't care what the technology is."

So, there you have it. A 2.1-second 0-60 mph run achieved by the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and this is will rollout. Plus, it's legit numbers. Regardless of which is better, a monster muscle car or an electric luxury sedan, what matters is that these are vehicles manufactured and developed in the United States. So, does Porsche, Ferrari, or Koenigsegg have a say in this?
