Chevrolet FNR-X Concept, More Tamed Than Two Years Ago

Chevrolet sure knows how to tease everyone. Recently at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show, the FNR-X concept was again revived. It is known that two years ago, it introduced the Chevrolet Find New Roads or FNR concept at Auto Shanghai. It is good to see it once again after its two-year hiatus, so what has changed, well, except for adding "X" this year?

This latest Chevrolet FNR-X is intended to be for everyone. It is substantially more subdued compared to the concept released two years ago. The FNR-X concept is classified as a solid crossover. It has an adaptive suspension to lower the ride at high speeds and active aero on the wheels to reduce drag.

It also possesses the generic Chevrolet design in all of its other crossovers. The front looks like a Camaro ZL1. One interesting feature is its rear-hinged doors is made to provide a huge opening for passengers. Ingress and egress have been made extra comfortable and hassle-free.

The back of this crossover screams sportiness because of its sharply raked rear window and spoiler. However, this can also be found in vehicles such as the Toyota CH-R. Though considerably outstanding, its interior remains of a typical concept. The seats are made of hi-tech fabric and the infotainment system also boasts of large OLED displays.

The Chevrolet FNR-X is also equipped with sensors which can detect the person behind the wheel and automatically adjusts the settings. This is definitely a step-up in terms of innovation alleviating the annoying manual adjustment of the driver for a more comfortable experience.

Its power is also reported to come from an undisclosed plug-in hybrid setup. It also has an all-terrain driver assistance technology for semi-autonomous operation in any kind of conditions. With all these said, it really is living up to its promise of being an "all-purpose sports concept vehicle."

As the Chevrolet FNR-X made its debut in China both this year and the previous FNR concept two years back, it is expected to make it big in this market upon official launch. The future is unclear, though, if this crossover will ever reach US showrooms.
