The Skoda Vision E finally made its debut at this year's Shanghai Auto Show. This then ends series of leaks and other rumored updates regarding this highly anticipated car. Its striking design is definitely becoming a favorite of industry experts and car enthusiasts.
The Skoda Vision E is powerful for a vehicle of its type as it can produce 300-bhp. It is also expected to accelerate from zero to 62mph in just six seconds. It is slightly faster than its rival, the Octavia vRS hot hatch by 0.5-seconds. In the game of speed, every millisecond counts so 0.5-second advantage is a significant advantage.
It is also considered a very good guide to a 2020 production electric crossover which is a promising step for the Czech car manufacturer. The Skoda Vision E will possess proportions with tight front and rear overhangs and sweeping roofline. It is expected to ride on a 2,851mm wheelbase which is 60mm longer than the Kodiaq and 10mm longer than the Superb saloon. Even better, the Skoda Vision E will have seven percent more internal space for ultimate cabin comfort for both the driver and the passengers.
To make the interior space even more significant, the Skoda Vision E has been designed to have clamshell-style doors where the back pair hinges rearwards for a more unobstructed central pillar. The central pillar is also designed to be an essential component to ensure adequate side-impact safety.
The Skoda Vision E is expected to get its power from the liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery which is located in the chassis floor between the two axles. It is also coupled with intelligent brake energy recovery which allows it to travel up to 311 miles in between charging.
The Skoda Vision E is definitely something to look forward to. Though still a concept, its inception is highly likely because of a steadily increasing demand for highly capable electric cars which may define the future of automotive.
