MG E-Motion Concept: A Supercar That Promises 310 Mile Range, To Debut At 2017 Shanghai Auto Show

Images of the MG E-Motion Concept, the latest creation from the brand that used to be in British hands, have recently been released. The vehicle concept is set to make its debut at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show.

The company claims that the MG E-Motion will sport an all-electric powertrain capable of delivering a range of 310 miles. Also, its 0 to 62 mph will be under 4.0 seconds. This is quite impressive.

Other than that and the images, there isn't much information released by the company about the upcoming supercar. But the coupe has truly been dramatically designed.

Based on the images, the MG E-Motion Concept is set to have four seats with upward-opening doors. Also, its front styling treatment could be shared with the company's upcoming ZS small SUV, although the concept will have an Aston Martin-like profile matched with vertical taillights and an uncluttered rear design. But there is some form of Mazda or Open Insignia Grand sport inspiration in the front fascia.

The front grille of the supercar seems to have been heavily inspired by the "diamond" grille pattern from Mercedes-Benz. And the rear design seems to take original inspiration from MG and SAIC Design.

MG is a British brand that was known for its roadsters during the time it was under British governance. However, after being owned by SAIC Motor since 2006, based in Shanghai, China, the company's offerings have been a far cry of that it was known for.

But now, things might change for the better as the brand seems to be eyeing its roots. The current owners have changed what "MG" actually stands for.

There will be more details regarding the MG E-Motion Concept once the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show starts on April 19. Until then, stay tuned for more details as the brand tries to rise amidst competition. Check out the images in the video below.
