The 2018 Volvo S90 improves the 2017 version that was just released months ago, effectively replacing it. Showcased at the New York Auto Show, the luxury sedan offers more legroom, a panoramic sunroof, and new engine options.

Not much has been changed in terms of design and features, but the 2018 Volvo S90 now has a longer wheelbase. This increases the rear legroom by 4.5 inches without it looking out of place. The stretch was already planned ahead, so the styling aspects work with it, creating a non-awkward looking sedan.

The 2018 Volvo S90 also received a major upgrade: a standard panoramic sunroof. The added length also works together with it so that the rear passengers are also aptly exposed to the sunlight.

Under the hood, there are some improvements as well. The previous version only offered the T6, one of Volvo's three four-cylinder engines. The replacement is now offered in all three, including the T5 and the T8.

Volvo's T6 engine on the S90 is a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain that produces 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The T5, on the other hand, does not feature supercharging and churns out 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The most advanced of the three, the S90 T8, is a supercharged, turbocharged, and electrified engine that generates 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.

Aside from the hardware changes, the 2018 Volvo S90 also gets a new software. The new user-interface screen improves reaction time and redecorates the menu to make it more simple to the eyes. A more notable upgrade is done to the lane keeping assist and steering assist, which is also compatible with the older S90 units.

The 2018 Volvo S90 adds at least a $1,150 to the base price. Interested buyers can prepare as much as $69,145 for the T8 model in Inscription trim. The updated luxury sedan can be expected to arrive in fall.
