Shanghai Auto Show 2017: Which Brands Are Showcasing Their Creations This Year?

The Shanghai Auto Show is one of the most anticipated events in the car industry. As the biggest auto market in the world, China is set to host the event where a lot of new cars and car concepts from the biggest brands will be revealed. Here are the confirmed carmakers showcasing their brand new ideas.

Volkswagen. It is the year of electric cars. The Beetle maker is set to introduce an electric SUV that is based on Volkswagen's MEB modular architecture. It is just a concept for now.

NIO. Called Weilai in Chinese, the Chinese startup will showcase its first all-electric SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show. The concept, dubbed EVE, is in line with the Tesla Model X and the FF91 from Faraday Future.

Lexus. The luxury brand will exhibit two cars at the Shanghai Auto Show this year. The refreshed NX compact crossover with revamped styling will debut, and the LS 500h hybrid sedan will appear again after appearing for the first time at the Geneva Auto Show.

Skoda. The company's fully electric car concept, the Vision E, will debut at the event. Dubbed the Tesla Model X killer, the electric SUV is set to go on production in 2020 to 2025.

Bentley. Another car that made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show is the Bentley EXP 12, which is going to appear again this April in Shanghai. It is expected to be sold in China first if the concept makes it to the production stage.

Mercedes. The S-class sedan with refreshed design and a smart map will be showcased alongside a new A-class compact sedan. The former is going to be available in fall this year.

Nissan. An off-road SUV-based truck will make its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. Nissan is displaying the Navara with the Vmotion 2.0 sedan concept. A new Kicks subcompact crossover is yet to be confirmed.

Hybrid Kinetic Group. It will be a busy week for the Hong Kong-based startup as it will present three concepts at the event. Included is the H600, which is a luxury plug-in sedan concept that debuted in Geneva. The other two cars are a surprise.

Lynk & CO. As the luxury car division of the Chinese auto brand Geely, Lynk & CO is showcasing the 01 hybrid compact crossover again. The 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine-powered model first appeared in Berlin and is set to go on sale later this year.

SAIC Motors. A battery-electric variant of the carmaker's Roewe RX5 and a plug-in hybrid variant of the Roewe i6 are appearing at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Other auto brands that may also appear are Volvo with the XC40 crossover and the Buick with its plug-in hybrid Velite 5, but they have yet to be confirmed. The Shanghai Auto Show starts on April 21 to 28.
