Volkswagen T-Roc SUV Spotted Ahead Of Summer Launch

Awaited for its summer departure, the Volkswagen T-Roc has been snooped testing for the first time almost uncamouflaged that it bears a close resemblance to the production prototype. The SUV will have a smaller body than its Tiguan sibling for lower riding.

Mooted from VW Golf, the T-Roc will likely to have 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder or 1.5-liter TSI Evo four-cylinder petrol engines, capable of delivering around 140 hp and up to 180 lb-ft of torque. A 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder petrol engine will be acquired by the T-Roc GTI edition, which was the initial presentation for the 2016 Volkswagen T-Roc concept, churning out 170 hp with a maximum torque of 380 Nm.

Diesel options for the SUV may either obtain a 1.6-liter TDI four-cylinder unit that emits 105 hp and a max torque output of 200 lb-ft or a more powerful 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder turbo that bursts out 140 hp with top torque production of 220 lb-ft. It is also expected to include a six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic gearboxes for its transmission and about five liters per 100 km of fuel consumption but estimated six liters for the petrol version.

Street, Off-road, and Snow comprise the driving modes this T-Roc offers. Depending on the mode selected, the parameters of the 4Motion drive train, Hill Descent Control, ABS, Hill Start Assist and dual-clutch gearbox will differ. A movable camera set below the fog lamp can be activated when the vehicle in off-road mode.

The front of the vehicle has dual-slat hexagonal grille positioned in line with the double head lamps which is placed above the fog lamps and a honeycomb mesh contours appearing in the lower air inlets. Its roof can be taken off and tucked in the boot with just a light touch. And for the interior, the 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster, the dashboard leather wrapped seats and steering wheel, the center console with the touchscreen tablet and the HD camera integrated into the area of the rear view mirror will share with its Polo and Golf relatives.
