The Subaru Outback has already made a name in its own niche, but the refreshed 2018 version is even better. The upgrades guarantee a smoother and more peaceful ride while also promising a more luxurious feel to each drive.
The revamped 2018 Subaru Outback is definitely more eye-catchy with its new front and rear design. Although there has not been much of a change, the new styling elements make for a more aggressive look. The most prominent adjustment is the fresh set of "Konoji" LED daytime running headlights.
Inside is an altogether different story. The 2018 Subaru Outback's transmission and engine timing have been tweaked to produce less noise and the sound-insulating glass installed in the front windows contribute to a quieter ride.
The dashboard of the 2018 Subaru Outback receives some adjustments as well. The Starlink infotainment system grows to 6.5 inches or 8 inches, with the latter having a central touchscreen. It also includes support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plus new apps like the eBird. The addition of two USB ports on the center console's backside now allows rear passengers to connect.
Cool new features have also been added to the 2018 Subaru Outback. The rearview camera now has guidelines that move with the steering wheel, like the Steering Responsive Headlight that has also been recently added.
Other changes include a bigger Blind Spot Detection/Rear Cross Traffic Alert indicator, improved child seat LATCH anchors, and the added details for each tire in the tire pressure monitoring system. Under the hood, however, the base engine is the same: the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine still produces 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. But buyers can still upgrade to a 3.6-liter six-cylinder that churns out 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque.
The entirety of the refreshed 2018 Subaru Outback is set to debut at the New York Auto Show. The event starts on April 13 and lasts until April 23. A lot of other cool car concepts and products, like the 2018 Audi TT RS, are set to make an appearance as well.
