Surface Phone Release Date: Microsoft Building A Mobile PC, Announcement Coming Next Month?

The much-awaited Surface Phone will blow away the competition soon as Microsoft is preparing to launch a PC device that can fit into the consumers' pockets. The world better prepares as a powerful smartphone is going to be launched soon.

When it comes to specs, only a few are being expected to have a direct go at the upcoming Surface Phone. All variants will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon that will bring the Windows 10 to mobile devices, the first step into achieving a mobile PC.

Then the high-end variant of the Surface Phone will have 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The figures are higher than any worthy competitor out there and even the mid-end variant with 6GB RAM/128GB storage and a low-end version with 4GB RAM/64GB storage are pretty hard to beat.

To complete the PC experience, Win32 apps will also be available to download. One disadvantage of the Windows OS against Android and iOS is the availability of apps. Bringing desktop apps to mobile will eliminate this disadvantage and entice users to switch to Microsoft's operating system.

Aside from being powerful, consumers can expect more from the Surface Phone. It will not only act as a highly-capable smartphone, it will also be able to transform into a tablet. A patent filed by Microsoft describes this tech perfectly.

The smartphone/tablet hybrid will make use of hinges and multiple panels in order to have a foldable device with an uninterrupted screen. To have a bigger screen, users simply have to unfold the device. And to use it as an ordinary smartphone, owners only have to fold the device.

This would allow for a keyboard attachment to be useful, as in the case of the Surface Pro. This would also make the Surface Phone worthy of having the Surface brand, as devices under this name can be used in more than one way.

More details about the Surface Phone will be arriving soon. The gadget is being expected to make an appearance at next month's Microsoft Build 2017 Conference. It is the perfect stage for the "ultimate mobile device."
