Shallow Grave Off Freeway: Body Found Off 105 Freeway In California

Los Angeles police are investigating a potential homicide after a body was found in a shallow grave this weekend according to the Los Angeles Times.

The body was found in a shallow grave off of the 105 Freeway near Bellflower Bouelevard at approximately 4:45 p.m. on April 14 according to police.

California Highway Patrol officers found the grave which is what led them to the body. Downey Police homicide officers have since taken over the investigation to try figuring how long the grave has been on the side of the freeway.

Police have yet to reveal if they have a suspect yet or not, but have confirmed that a homeless encampment is located nearby according to the Examiner.

This is the second time police have found a grave in California since January according to the Associated Press.

Back on Jan. 9, a hiker found what he said looked like a grave in the Angeles National Forest. While the hiker said he found blood near the site, he did not see a body.

The grave was found in the forest near Big Tujunga Canyon Road by local police and was 3 ft. by 10 in. deep according to CBS News. Police believe the grave was dug up between Jan. 8 and 9 because it appeared to be completed after a heavy rainstorm that took place that week.

While investigators have yet to confirm why there was a grave dug up, as a body was not found, they believe some form of religious ritual could have taken place. Police have found chicken bones and burnt cloth near that location in the place according to CBS News.
