Windows 10 Creators Update is expected to power up the system of smartphones. However, reports are now saying not all smartphones can receive the update. Warnings have also surfaced advising users not to rush downloading the update.
Windows 10 Creators Update is set to roll out soon. Microsoft has confirmed the new update will begin rolling out on April 25.
Unfortunately, reports also said that not all smartphones running on Windows can get access to the upcoming update. Popular Microsoft tipster Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet reports that her sources have provided her the list of eligible smartphones that will receive the upcoming update.
The smartphones that can receive the upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update are Alcatel IDOL 4S, Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL, HP Elite X3, Lenovo Softbank 503LV, MCJ Madosma Q60i, Microsoft Lumia 550, Microsoft Lumia 640/640XL, Microsoft Lumia 650, Microsoft Lumia 950/950XL, Trinity NuAns Neo, and VAIO VPB051. Mary Jo Foley tried to reconfirm the list from Microsoft and the company graciously responded.
According to Microsoft, some devices may not have access to the Windows 10 Creators Update but the company did not specify yet which models are eligible or not. The complete list of supported devices will then be posted on the Product Lifecycle page.
Microsoft explained that some devices have hardware that is not compatible with the upcoming update. There are two possible factors that a device may not be legit to receive the upcoming update.
First, if the device lacks the current drivers. Secondly, if it is outside of the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) support period.
In the response, Microsoft confirmed that they will roll out the upcoming update in the same way the previous update was rolled out. Users may expect the gradual installment of the release of the new update.
Furthermore, Microsoft confirmed to Mary Jo Foley that the eligible devices will continue to receive servicing and security fixes based on the company's OS support policy.
Meanwhile, another report warns that it is not advisable for users to download the initial release of the upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update. The update that will be released is allegedly a public beta test only.
The report claims that the initial release is intended to find unforeseen flaws that users can encounter on the actual implementation. Users will just go through the hassle of finding bugs during the initial stage.
The report says the initial stage will go through the first four months. After this stage, the rectified and actual safe version of the Windows 10 Creators Update can then be released.
