2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST And Suburban RST: Special Edition With Latest 10-Speed Transmission & Sportier Look

General Motors has added two special edition to its large SUV range: the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST and Suburban RST. The two special edition models boast of its 6.2L eight-valve, 10-speed transmission plus its sportier design.

The automaker will release a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST and 2018 Chevy Suburban RST in response to the customers' demand. According to GM executives, there are customers who are craving for a sportier version of the two models.

The automaker is now coming out with a special edition of its RST (Rally Street Truck) range featuring major refresh on exteriors and some mechanical tweaks. The special edition models will be offered at the Premier and LT trim levels.

The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST will be available in white, black, silver and tungsten variants. The major refresh on the design of the special edition Tahoe RST is the omission of the chrome design to create a sportier look.

General Motors have put back some components to add to the sportier look of the large SUV. The new Tahoe RST will have door handles, grille, mirror caps, roof rails, window trim, pillars, running board and exhaust tips.

All the additional components will be in black color to accentuate the athletic peg of the special edition models. Moreover, the other significant refresh to the special edition RST models are the 22-inch wheels with Bridgestone P285/45R22 tires.

On the inside, the 5.3-liter V-8 has been retained as the standard engine. This can deliver 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

Meanwhile, General Motors is also offering upgrade packages for buyers to choose from. For greater performance, buyers can choose to upgrade with the performance package that will replace the 5.5-liter V-8 engine to a 6.2-liter V-8 engine. This upgrade will now deliver 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Another upgrade option of the performance package offers the Magnetic Ride Control suspension which is specially calibrated for powerful vehicles. This enables the new models to respond accurately to the road and not lose control despite being tossed to and fro.

In terms of exhaust system upgrade, there is the Borla performance exhaust system. This upgrade features a 28 percent enhancement in the flow of exhaust, to support the 7 to 10-horsepower gain at the rear wheels.

Buyers can also avail of the brake package which includes red Brembo six-piston, fixed-aluminum calipers. The upgrade also adds the bigger Duralife rotors.

Due to the upgrade package, the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST will be the second model to acquire the brand's latest 10-speed automatic transmission. It can be recalled that it was on the ZL1 Camaro where this latest 10-speed automatic transmission was introduced.

This powerful 10-speed automatic transmission is specifically designed for large SUVs which do not require the crisp shifts similar to that of a sports car. The large SUV will take advantage of the smaller steps in between each ratio to get the full potentials of the engine power.

Both the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST and 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST are set to be released this fall. Reports have mentioned that Chevy has discovered that special edition models generate twice the sales of the standard models.
