BMW X1: A Spacious, Elegant and Luxurious Take on the Popular Crossover SUV

The market for crossover SUVs has significantly grown in the past couple of years, which is why car manufacturers are edging each other in order to get a piece of this lucrative segment. Case in point is the new BMW X1, an entry-level crossover model that combines luxury and the utility features of a crossover.

The BMW X1 is an elegant SUV that combines luxury and mainstream features of a utility car. Many car analysts have even crowned it as the sweet spot for crossover SUVs. The X1 packs a spacious cabin, it drives well and boasts an undeniably powerful engine.

The BMW X1 boasts a 27cu-ft of cabin space. That is significant better compared to some of its rivals like the Infiniti QX30 or the Audi Q3.

Even the base model of the BMW X1 is elegant in its own right. It has a decent 32mpg highway mileage rating. It also features quite a handful of new safety technology like adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and self-parking.

The centerpiece of the BMW X1's internal is the 6.5-inch infotainment system. It supports Bluetooth and USB ports. It has a Hi-Fi sound system and supports satellite radio.

Under the hood, the BMW X1 packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. According to Car and Driver, it boasts 228horsepower and 258lb-ft worth of torque. All of which can help propel the crossover SUV from zero to 60mph in 6.4 seconds. It also has a top speed of 129mph. The firepower is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission which promises smooth and prompt shifts.

The base BMW X1 model costs $34,745. It is true that it is quite pricier compared to some of its competitors, but for all the features and power the car provides, it more than compensates for the price.
