2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid: A Spacious Compact SUV With Excellent Mileage

The upcoming 2017 Nissan Rogue is widely considered to be a strong contender in the compact wagon segment of the market. The hype surrounding this particular model have been steadily buzzing, especially with the introduction of the gasoline-electric model.

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid packs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated with a 30-kilowatt electric motor. The compact wagon is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack to provide the juice to the electric motor. Together, the electric motor and the conventional engine produce 176 horsepower, according to Boston.com.

In terms of power alone, the Hybrid model packs six more horsepower compared to the conventional gas-powered Rogue model. Nevertheless, both models sport a continuously variable transmission with an optional Sport mode. Both models come in front-drive configuration, although they can be configured for an optional all-wheel drive, according to Richmond.com.

The Nissan Rogue Hybrid boasts one of the most spacious cabins in this particular segment. Although the car does falter when it comes to off-road duties, it is more than capable of conventional uses like driving to work or school. It is also a solid SUV for long driving as it packs a decent infotainment system.

In terms of fuel economy, the Nissan Rogue Hybrid is rated at 35mpg for highway, 33mpg for city, and 34mpg combined for the front-wheel drive model. The all-wheel drive model has is rated at 34mpg for highway, 31mpg for city, and 33mpg combined.

In terms of on-road performance, the Rogue Hybrid has a decent acceleration, but not really remarkable enough to stand on top of the competition. Nevertheless, it has a solid cornering performance and steering is very responsive.

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid SV costs $26,240. The Rogue Hybrid SL model costs $31,310.
