New 2017 Jeep Compass Slowly Rolling out to Dealers

The new 2017 Jeep Compass is a complete revamp from the previous model. While it may be compact, it is very capable. This year, the all new baby Grand Cherokee will have better off-road performance and equipment.

It was previously reported that the all-new Compass underwent a complete overhaul. The company changed nearly everything about the SUV except for its name. They even kept the "2017" model name, similar to its predecessor. However, everything else is completely different.

The Compass will now use the same platform as the Jeep Renegade and the Jeep Cherokee. It will sit perfectly between the two as a perfect "Goldilocks" compact SUV. It is slightly bigger than the Renegade but also slightly smaller than the Jeep Cherokee.

It comes with only one engine choice. The 2.4-liter MultiAir Tigershark is capable of 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in AWD nine-speed automatic transmission and six-speed manual. There is also a six-speed automatic transmission for FWD. Additionally, there is an option for Active Drive or Jeep Active Low for low range gear driving.

This year, its interior and equipment are also interesting. It sports the classic Jeep interior - no fuss and no nonsense with everything laid out in place. It has generous rear and cargo space as well. It will also have better safety and tech features.

The on and off-road performance is impeccable. The ride quality is smooth and quiet on the road. Steering and handling are also predictive and responsive. It is very capable overall.

In a report by The Detroit News, Mike Manley, Jeep head for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, said that the first of the new 2017 Jeep Compass models have arrived. They have started rolling out and the first 100 already reached dealers at the end of last week.

Manley also revealed that the Jeep advertising campaign for the Compass may begin in early May. He was also asked about the highly anticipated Jeep Wrangler. He said that they are on track for it but did not give any more details. However, he did give a hint that it will come out before the Los Angeles Auto Show in December.

The new 2017 Jeep Compass is the baby Grand Cherokee and better than ever before. It is already available at some dealers starting at around $22,000.
