The 2017 Formula One United States Grand Prix is still seven months away, but American fans of the single-seat auto racing tournament have now one thing to excite about. International superstar Justin Timberlake has been chosen as the F1 USGP weekend's main entertainment offering on October 21. Timberlake will perform at the Circuit of the America's (COTA) Superstage in Austin, Texas.

COTA is a 3.4-mile racetrack that has become a major venue for world-class music, entertainment, and motorsports events. Last year's headliner was pop singer Taylor Swift, who performed to thousands of F1 fans. Taylor's selection was a good move for organizers to boost attendance in Austin after years of slowing demand since the race debuted in 2012. Usher and The Roots also performed on the Sunday night following the actual race.

According to COTA chairman Bobby Epstein, they are thrilled to have Justin Timberlake perform at this year's United States Grand Prix. He promises an exhilarating weekend for residents and visitors alike who are assured of incredible entertainment off and on track.

The pop icon and superstar boast of ten Grammy trophies, with the 2016 single "Can't Stop the Feeling" as his latest. The song was also nominated for an Oscar, which went to a composition from the musical "La La Land."

The 2016 U.S. Grand Prix was won by British racing driver Lewis Hamilton. He has five U.S. Grand Prix titles, and his 2016 victory was his fourth at COTA. More than 265,000 people were witnesses to Hamilton's win.

The 2017 F1 race will include a stop by the "Common Threads Chef Takeover" tour, a fundraising event that features celebrity chefs serving up dinner and cocktails. The pop-dining experience aims to help bring Common Threads' health and wellness education to Del Valle Independent School District.
