Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Crossover was awarded as Canada's 2017 Green Utility Vehicle of the Year. It's a double win since the Toyota Prius Hybrid also got the top spot as the Canadian Green Vehicle of the Year.
The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) were the ones who voted for the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Toyota Canada Vice-President, Cyril Dimitris attributed the win to the RAV4 Hybrid's fuel efficiency, low emissions and the use of a most efficient powertrain.
The top-selling compact crossover in Canada, the Toyota RAV4's power, and efficiency is attributable to a Hybrid Synergy Drive created around a four cylinder, 2.5 liter Atkinson Cycle Engine. With its powertrain, powerful electric motor and storage batteries, it generates a 194 horsepower.
Likewise, fuel efficiency is pretty high with a minimum use of only 7.3 liters per 100 kilometers, either in the city or highway. Dimitris expressed that the RAV4 Hybrid Crossover's win is not only just their win but also for environmentally conscious drivers, the community, and the planet.
Other factors taken into consideration for Toyota's double win are innovative features, and environmentally friendly production, environmental impact overall, and consumer appeal. About 60 automotive journalists all across Canada participated in the voting and testing at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario.
The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Crossover beat out competitors Subaru Forrester and the Mazda CX-9 for the title of Green Utility Vehicle of the Year. On the other hand, the Toyota Prius beat out Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid and the Kia Optima Hybrid.
