The All-New 2018 Ford Expedition Is The Smartest And Most Powerful Expedition Ever Made

For today's active families, Ford unveiled their all-new 2018 Ford Expedition, the smartest, and the most capable and adaptable Expedition ever built. It's equipped with new technologies to keep every passenger connected, more power for drivers, and more towing capability than any other full-size SUV out there.

Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas, said, "When Expedition introduced 20 years ago, it set the standard for active families who simply needed a big and strong SUV to take them places. Today's families want even more smart technology to help them cover more ground safely, more efficiently and more comfortably - all while staying connected to friends and family."

Ford used the new C-shaped headlights designed found on the ongoing F-150 and integrates them into the grille. The horizontal grille remains but now has smaller gaps and different patterns depending on the trim level. Both the headlights and grille now appears larger in size, as does the Ford logo. Also, the redesigned hood is more angular resulting in a more aggressive look.

At the rear end, the boxier design gives the 2018 Ford Expedition a more robust look versus the more rounded look of the current Expedition. The C-shaped taillights replace the rectangular taillights of the last-gen version. The rear bumper also appears larger, which accentuates the Expedition's bulk when viewed from behind.

On the inside, the small circular air vents in the center stack are replaced by a much bigger vertical vent, and the infotainment display screen grows and offers Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system. The vertical shifter is now a rotary knob, and the four-spoke steering wheel now has a modern design with a much thicker hand grips.

Under the hood, the new Expedition is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine with standard Auto Start-Stop plus a new 10-speed automatic transmission making the SUV the most power Expedition ever. The new electronic limited-slip differential on models with intelligent 4WD improves the vehicle's off-road capability by sending power where it's needed.

The 2018 Ford Expedition is also available in XLT, Limited and Platinum series. It will be arriving in fall 2017 and will be built at Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.
