The 2018 BMW M5 is believed to be the fastest yet upon official release so be prepared. It may even end the competition for speed and power as this high-performance sedan gets introduced to the market. Industry experts and car enthusiasts are definitely looking forward and see what else can this sedan bring on the table, or in this case, the road.
According to Auto Guide, it is expected for 2018 BMW M5 to push to even greater heights as its answer to the release of Mercedes-AMG E63 S which offers 603-horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. BMW is expected to pull all stops to break and crush the record set by the E63.
The 2018 M5 is reported to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in about 4-seconds or less. The current M5's time is 4.4-seconds so the 2018 M5 will have to be faster than the M550i xDrive since it produces 456-horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
The 2018 BMW M5 will not have a manual transmission option. BMW already stopped taking manual transmission orders on the current M5 sometime last year. The manual transmission is supposedly developed for the US market and it did cost BMW a lot in doing so. With this said, it is unlikely that BMW offers a manual transmission given the fact that its sales prove that it is not worth the time and effort.
The 2018 BMW M5 may also produce 600-horsepower from a twin-turbo V-8 engine. It will be using reworked version of the outgoing twin-turbo V-8 engine which is able to produce such power and is mated with eight-speed automatic transmission. The next-generation M5 will also be all-wheel-drive.
As added by Car Scoops, the 2018 BMW M5 is also reported to come with heavily restyled bumpers, different kidney grille inserts, wider front wings with chromed vent elements, and M mirror casings. To add to the exciting update are wider sills, prominent rear diffuser and signature quad tailpipes.
