2018 Acura TLX Is Up For Midcycle Refresh: To Sport Precision Grille Concept & New Tech

The Acura TLX is receiving a substantial update for the 2018 model year. In fact, this small sedan is hoping to conjure a bit of excitement in the market with its new corporate face, as it will sport the Precision Grille found on the current MDX crossover.

Since the Precision Grille is spreading all throughout the Acura lineup, it is no surprise that the TLX is next in line for a midcycle refresh. The company's Precision concept was first unveiled at the 2016 Detroit auto show, wherein its angular headlights, grille, and enlarged Acura logo are all used on the imposing concept, according to MotorAuthority.

"The 2018 TLX will receive new styling elements that ratchet up its emotion and reflect Acura's focus on Precision Crafted Performance," said Acura VP and GM Jon Ikeda. "Acura customers embraced the MDX when we raised its game with bold, new styling, and we're pumped to show how we're elevating the TLX experience."

Instead of the "beak" grille or polarizing shield, the 2018 Acura TLX is getting a pentagonal unit inspired by the 2016 Acura Precision concept, much similar to that in the 2017 MDX. But the Jewel Eye LED headlights will still be retained, although tweaked with new LED daytime running lights, reports MotorTrend.

Acura also noted that the mid-cycle refresh will come with other significant updates and customers should expect new premium features and tech for the 2016 Acura TLX. The interior will surely receive new updates that will capture buyer's attention and that should represent the style and luxury the company is aiming for.

For its engine, since the current TLX is offered either as a 2.4-liter inline-4 or 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 mated with a standard front wheel drive and delivering 206 hp, increased power and a standard 9-speed could be part of the upgrades. But we can't tell for sure as there is scarce information as of this writing.

However, we will keep you updated in the coming weeks. The 2018 Acura TLX will have a live-stream debut at the New York Auto Show on April 11 starting at 4:45 pm EST. You can check this link for the live stream on that schedule. In the meantime, stay tuned.
