The 2017 Lexus RC 200t is one impressive ride in more ways than one. However, going straight to the point, industry experts think that it has fallen behind its competitors because of its performance and other more aspects.
According to Car and Driver, the main selling point of the 2017 Lexus RC 200t is its price. It does start at $41,150 which makes it fairly reasonable. For a sharp-looking ride, the price tag is not too steep as compared to its other competitors with prices mostly starting at $43,000. Being suave and sleek can now be attained, somehow because of the RC 200t.
The 2017 RC 200t is powered by 2.0-liter inline four with a twin-scroll turbocharger which is capable of producing 241-horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It is mated with eight-speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, there is no option for all-wheel-drive or manual transmission.
The RC is also heavier than most of its competitors weighing in at 3,796 pounds. Obviously, the heavier weight translates to more effort to its engines. When tested, the RC accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 6.7-seconds. This is slightly slower compared to Mercedes-Benz C300 which reached it in 6-seconds. Even better, the BMW coupe only did it in 5.5-seconds.
The 2017 Lexus RC 200t also doesn't do well on its fuel efficiency as it only had EPA of 19 mpg with the Turbo and combined rating of 26 mpg. The testing only involved driving around the city so such rating is tad bit disappointing.
As added by Edmunds, its infotainment system is also somehow challenging and difficult to operate. The rear seats are also small, even for children. With these said, it is safe to say that other competitors may be a better option.
However, the 2017 Lexus RC 200t is not at all that bad. It boasts of excellent interior craftsmanship. It does provide hours of comfortable touring as well. Its steering is also precise in standard form. Though it has remained unchanged for 2017, the RC may not easily be the favorite of industry experts and enthusiasts, however, it is still one good ride to check out.
