T-Mobile Mistakenly Announce Android 7.0 Nougat Update for HTC One M8

HTC One (M8) owners on the T-Mobile network have reason to rejoice as the network provider recently announced that it is rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the phone which was released way back in 2014. While this development is quite unexpected, many in the tech community have commended T-Mobile for its commitment to its customers.

It is rather surprising for a three-year-old smartphone like the HTC One (M8) to receive a major software update in the form of Android Nougat. Users are singing high praises not only for T-Mobile, but also for HTC for their efforts to bring this major update to a rather outdated phone.

T-Mobile released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the M8 (One) about a year ago. The network provider announced on March 24, through its online support page, that HTC One (M8) owners can download the latest mobile operating system update from Android, according to GizBot.

While this appears to be an important move for both T-Mobile and HTC, some M8 (One) owners have started to share on various social media platforms that the update is still unavailable. A T-Mobile representative told The Android Soul that the company has mistakenly updated the M8 (One) webpage to appear that the Android 7.0 Nougat update is on its way. T-Mobile is expected to address the confusion soon. It would appear, that the Nougat update will not be coming after all.

The HTC One (M8) smartphone has a 5.0-inch display with 1080 x 1920 resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. On its release, the phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, but has been updated to support Android 6.0 Marshmallow in March 2016.
