2017 Jeep Compass: A Jeep That Excels Off-Road

The updated 2017 Jeep Compass is much improved compared to its predecessor. It's the perfect vehicle for customers who wants a comfortable and affordable crossover SUV that can still handle a dirt road. The previous version of the Compass will also be sold as a 2017 version along with the new version.

Technically, there are two Jeep Compass models for sale in the 2017 model year. The redesigned Compass has a stronger chassis, revised suspension tuning and simplified powertrain choices. The vehicle's exterior and interior designs are completely new and follow the looks established by the Grand Cherokee and Cherokee. Other features for the new Compass include a new advanced driver safety aids, an improved infotainment system and a new Trailhawk trim level that features enhanced off-road capability.

For the redesigned 2017 Jeep Compass, there are four trim levels available. All are equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. Trim levels available are Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk.

The Sport trim level comes with cloth seats and 16-inch wheels; it's one of the most affordable compact SUVs. The Latitude version adds a larger 17-inch wheels, upgraded seating surfaces and access to some significant driver assist systems. The Limited model is only offered with AWD but adds more convenience, and luxury-oriented features and the Trailhawk is the trail-related Compass that has unique features that optimize its off-road capabilities.

Regarding tech stuff, infotainment screen of 5-, 7-, and 8.4 inches are offered. That last one offered with optional navigation while the 7- and 8.4 version are smartphone friendly and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto supported.

The Compass is also smaller than the typical small SUV, such as the Ford Escape and Hond CR-V. However, the Subaru Crosstek stands a more direct rival in size. When it comes to price, the all new 2017 Jeep Compass has a base price of $24,900.
