Volkswagen Tiguan Bags Second 2017 Award With Auto Bild’s All-Wheel Drive Car Of The Year

Auto Bild has handed its All-wheel Drive Car of the Year award to the Volkswagen Tiguan, which was launched last year. The crossover SUV now has two awards this year, with the first being one of the Best Cars of 2017. Volkswagen, however, has received other awards for its other cars since January.

The award was for cars under €30,000 and it was received in an event in Frankfurt, Germany. According to VWVortex, the Volkswagen Tiguan boasts both space and power, both of which are likely to be contributing factors to its win.

Besting its competitors in the same category, the crossover is still designed for on-road use, but its adjustable drive modes (thanks to the four-wheel-drive 4Motion) allows drivers to confidently take on other driving conditions. In general, the Tiguan offers functionality while having a sexy look.

In a What Car review, the Volkswagen Tiguan is said to have a standard automatic emergency braking and five stars from Euro NCAP for safety. Aside from the safety and security it offers, its power is also not to be taken lightly, as it features up to a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel with 237 bhp, depending on model. But high specs come with high costs.

For those with a budget, there is also a model with a 1.4-liter petrol with 123bhp. Apart from the manual transmission and lack of the four-wheel drive feature, the lowest-powered model is also easy on the wallet because of its engine. Thus, the Volkswagen Tiguan is a good choice to those who want a "Car of the Year"-material vehicle at lower costs.

While the new Volkswagen Tiguan has been out for some time now, a new model will enter the family soon. An elongated version of the SUV called the Tiguan Allspace will arrive later this year, though a specific release date is yet to be announced.
