1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT by Zagato: Only 19 Ever Made

The 1962 Aston Martin DB4GT by Zagato is a rare classic car. It was seen at the RM Sotheby's auction two years ago and one of them sold for over $14 million! Undoubtedly, it is one of the most coveted pieces of automotive history out there.

According to a report by Auto Blog, the DB4 GT was the start of a long and distinguished partnership between automaker Aston Martin and Zagato. It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful automobiles ever made. Only 19 examples were originally built.

The DB4GT Zagato was first unveiled at the London Motor Show in 1960. It was stunningly beautiful and lightweight and was one of the main attractions. This particular DB4GT by Zagato has a 3.7-liter inline-six engine. It can produce up to 314 horsepower. Considering that this is a car from the sixties, this is already pretty amazing!

The 14th example was auctioned at RM Sotheby's two years ago. It was the only one delivered new to Australia. It underwent a complete restoration in 2002 and this unit with chassis number DB4GT/0186/R won top awards at both Pebble Beach and Villa d'Este. The car was expected to fetch over $16 million but the winning bid was only $14,300,000, which is still a large sum of money.

In another report by Classic Driver, this classic beauty is touted to be even rarer than a Ferrari 250 GTO and would actually have been ideal for James Bond. Unfortunately, this is a car that James Bond can only dream of with that price tag and exclusivity. Prior to the recent one auctioned in 2015, no 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT by Zagato was recently seen for sale or auction.

The 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT by Zagato is truly a rare and beautiful car. Will another one be changing hands soon within the decade? Share your thoughts and comments below.
