Amazon’s TV Show Oasis Features Game Of Thrones’ Star Richard Madden

Once again, Amazon is asking viewers to suggest which of their shows should move forward this year. One of them is Oasis, a sci-fi drama about a priest who tries to bring religion to a dying space colony. Amazon’s new television show Oasis is based on Michael Faber’s 2014 novel The Book Of Strange Things and has just released its first pilot episode.

As reported by Gizmodo, Oasis is a show about a priest with a past who’s asked to travel to a distant space colony that’s supposed to be humanity’s lost hope. However, Oasis is far from perfect. The crops are dying, the station’s leader has disappeared, and people are killing themselves. Game Of Thrones star Richard Madden (Rob Stark), plays the priest named Peter. He senses that something strange is truly going on.

The colonists are having visions of people and animals close to them, leading to hurt or even kill themselves. As all pilots, this one has its flaws too. Since the very beginning, the planet looks dangerous and foreboding, and the director Kevin MacDonald makes you lost in space. On top of that, Madden and Peter are the only ones receiving major character development.

According to The Verge, Oasis’s pilot leaves more questions than answers. What is happening to the colonists? Why are they seeing visions of their pasts? It seems that the first episode scratches the surface of the new world, and it is made this way to hook the viewers. It is likely that the show could diverge from the book it’s based on. It is exciting to see how Oasis will go about examining and comparing faith and science.

With this show, Amazon could very well set up a pretty decent science fiction adventure series about a colony in space. Oasis has the potential to become a fascinating drama that explores human nature in the depths of space.
