Lotus Cars to launch the new Elise Sprint Edition. The new Elise Sprint Edition is said to follow in the footsteps of the Exige Special Edition. It does away with a few parts and uses a lot of carbon fiber in different areas compared to the Exige Special Edition.

The vehicle sports a lithium-ion battery that allows the car to weight 9 kilograms less, carbon bucket seats that save 6 kilograms, forged alloy wheels that cut 5 kilograms, a new front grille and a redesigned front clam panel shedding 5 kilograms more, and a roll-over cover which saves another 6 kilograms. The Elise Sprint Edition has a total dry weight of 798 kilograms. This makes it the lightest vehicle in its class.

Under the hood is a 1.8-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine capable of producing 164 kilowatts of power for the Elise 220. It is able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour or 97 kilometers per hour in just 4.1 seconds as claimed by the company.
